Family Life Ministry Summer Update

We have had a wonderful summer in Family Life Ministry. First and foremost, we would like to say “Thank You” to the congregation for your support through the donations given and budget support provided. It shows how much you value children, youth, and family ministry and we are so grateful. We also want to thank ALL of the volunteers who have served with us in these summer ministries. We would not be able to offer these experiences without your help. A special “Thank You” to Lindsey Kimbell who served as the summer intern in our program. Lindsey led Kids’ Kamp at the Mission campus July 10-13, assisted with VBS set-up and organization, and helped in many other ways. We wanted to share the highlights with you to let you know how we are working to grow as a “Community Following Jesus.”

Lutheran Valley Retreat 2017

Theme: “Made for More”

Trinity had fifteen youth and two adults attend LVR Youth Camp June 4-10. Our theme this year was “Made for More.” We focused our week in Bible study on the life of Joseph and learning “God’s Promise Prevails” in every part of our lives. There was daily worship, Bible study, and on Wednesday there was worship on top of Cedar Mountain and at Outpost. The youth participated in service projects for camp and also in a variety of fun activities like zip line, rock climbing, rappelling, archery, horseback riding, evening hikes, and a sunrise hike. Those attending were Claire Hofstetter, Aubrey Hofstetter, Elizabeth Hartje, Anna Owsley, Jenna Haase, Peyton Wagoner, Lauren Harrell, Anna Nellis, Annie Roney, Blake Harrell, Noah Kuhn, Demitry Barker, Evan Nellis, Cameron Pilchard, and Kyle Mayfield. We had four returning LVR campers and eleven incoming freshmen. Madison Delamore served as a Cabin Coach and Rhonda Synovec served as Lead Staff.

Maker FunFactory VBS

Shawnee Campus –  June 19-23, 2017

Mission Campus – July 10-14, 2017

We had so much FUN at Maker Fun Factory VBS. We learned that we are “Created by God, Built for a Purpose!” We also learned that God is always with us, he is always for us, and he will always love us!

We served 240 children at VBS this year – 150 at Shawnee and 90 at Mission! Over 90 volunteers served in a variety of ways during our VBS weeks. We were especially excited to have a day camp from Olathe join us for the Mission campus VBS! Special thanks to our VBS teams – Barb Estes, Cheryl Palmer, Aubrey Hofstetter, Claire Hofstetter, Kristol Stenstrom, Suzanne Cox, Katie Taylor, Nancy Schulz, Annette Kramer, JoAnn Emerson, and Julie Messbarger.
