Dear Seniors,

Recently, Pastor Phil brought to my attention an article from a senior blog. In it the blogger writes of seniors in the church making an intentional effort to be mentors to others in our congregations. This is something we at Trinity are trying to do, but he puts it in clearer terms then I do. I invite you to read the article we have reproduced, and I invite your reaction.

Our congregation is similar to the make-up of most LCMS congregations with respect to age demographics. Well over 25% of the congregation is of retirement age and beyond. Many, if not most of us, have been members of Christian congregations for decades. Though we always have new things to learn and need to be open to new ways of doing things, we have a sense of comfort in living our lives as Children of God. We have much to offer our younger family, whether that be children, youth, or adults.

In the next few months I will be looking for new and fun ways of doing just that. If you have ideas or areas where you would like to get involved, please contact me. Please take the opportunity to read these articles and let me know your reaction.

Blessings,

Tom
