As Jesus was preparing to leave this earth, He sent his disciples out with the commission:

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.  Matthew 28:19-20a ESV

Baptism, then, is one of the essential ways in which we become a disciple, a follower of Jesus.

In the waters of Baptism, God comes to us, creating faith in us by His Holy Spirit, and adopting us as His children.  As the Bible says:

Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.   Acts 2:38 ESV

Because baptism is primarily God’s action of giving faith, we baptize both infants and adults.

Baptisms usually take place during one of our worship services. For infant and child baptisms we encourage the selection of one or more sponsors who can assist the parents in bringing up their children as followers of Jesus. Families normally meet with a pastor ahead of time for a pre-baptism orientation.

If you are considering baptism for you or one of your family members, we would love to visit more with you about what this important step would mean for you and your family.  For more information or to schedule a baptism, please click the “I’m Interested” link above or contact one of the pastors.
