Program Description

Our Pre-K Program is designed to provide your child with the tools necessary to be successful in life. Our Christian environment is the perfect place for your four- or five-year-old to grow cognitively, physically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. Our theme-based curriculum incorporates early childhood learning standards and focuses on teaching math, science, language, pre-reading and problem solving skills (to name a few!).

Our Pre-K teachers will guide your child through a flexible schedule. The class day contains the following elements:

Circle Time: Students gather on the rug to warm-up their brain with interactive activities like Letter of the Week, calendar counting, rhyming words, and shape/color review. This portion of the day ends with a read aloud based upon the theme (fiction and non-fiction literature).

Worship: A special part of the day, worship is held in the classroom and in the sanctuary depending upon the day. The Pastor, Director, and classroom teachers coordinate lessons that share the Good News of Jesus.  Bible stories, memory verses, songs, and prayer help your child grow in the Lord.

Center Time: Students self-select from a variety of centers including housekeeping, building, and art. The teacher may be found at centers interacting with the children or pulling small groups to the tables for handwriting, math, or language activities. With a maximum class size of 12, teachers are able to meet individual student needs.

Self-serve Snack: Pre-K students are becoming more independent and confident each day. Our program fosters this by allowing your child to serve himself or herself. Important skills like hand washing, praying, pouring, scooping, and cleaning up are practiced.

Large Motor Activities: Weather-permitting, our classes play outside on the playground. With balance beams, trikes, slides, and a sandbox, each child is sure to find an activity that interests him or her. They think it is PLAY but we know this is the time when they can develop large motor and fine motor skills. Raining or snowing? No worries, we plan indoor large motor activities, too.

Directed Learning: Your child will get a taste of Kindergarten by participating in learning activities that focus on school readiness. Activities will vary from writing journals and ten frames to Scholastic Readers, but the goal will remain the same – students prepared for Kindergarten!
