Hi! This is Abbie Barker, the 2026 summer intern for children and youth ministries. I graduated from Shawnee Mission West and in the spring I’ll be starting classes at JCCC to become a Veterinary Technician. This is quick recap of this summer and some of things that stuck out to me.
I really enjoyed helping make the decorations for VBS but also helping with VBS at both campuses. It was amazing to see how all the kids really enjoy VBS. My favorite part was at closing each day the kids would be so excited to tell you what they did and learned that day. At the Mission campus we painted the Middle school room, which I think turned out amazing!
Throughout the summer I realized how much work goes into putting on all the different events at Trinity. Also, how many amazingly awesome volunteers and families there are at Trinity that come together to make sure that not only kids but everyone has an amazing summer and get a chance to learn more about Jesus along the way! A huge thank you to Rhonda and Beth for trusting me with projects and this amazing experience this summer, also a huge thanks to them for all they do for the congregation!
