Advent Devotionals 2023

As we approach the Advent season, we invite you to join us in preparing our hearts and minds for the celebration of Christ’s birth. Starting on November 15, Advent devotionals will be available at each campus. We encourage you to stop by and pick up one, or even two devotionals, tailored to your specific needs.

These devotionals are designed to bring meaning and depth to your Christmas preparations, offering a daily journey of reflection, prayer, and hope. Whether you’re an adult, a youth, a child, or a family, we have resources that will resonate with your spiritual journey.

Let us come together as a community, taking this opportunity to grow closer to God and to one another during this special season. We look forward to sharing in this meaningful Advent journey with you.

Advent Seasonings

From the “all-you-can-eat buffet” of Eden to the baby laid in a feedbox, the fun, thoughtful devotions in this little booklet follow a taste-tempting food narrative through the Bible—all to add a little “spice” to the celebration of Advent for teens and young adults. This book is sure to whet one’s Advent appetite along our journey to Bethlehem, where we discover the Lord who truly delivers.

A Little Child Shall Lead Them by Henri Nouwen

In this Advent devotional, popular author, blogger, and editor Elizabeth Scalia offers daily reflections on both Scripture and selected works of Henri J.M. Nouwen. With depth and clarity, this booklet prayerfully unpacks how God’s divine love is best revealed through Jesus. Let this Advent season be one where the Child Jesus reveals the Father’s love for you.

Heaven and Nature Sing

A Christmas tree can point our eyes to the Savior just as its shape points to heaven above. The sparkling lights remind us of the sparkling skies over Bethlehem. The shiny decorations remind us of the precious gifts the Wise Men carried. Each day of December, add a sticker ornament to the Christmas tree centerpiece. Read the Bible verse for the day, and sing a seasonal song about the coming Savior. As December 25 nears, see how the Christmas tree points the way to God’s gift of Grace given through our heavenly Savior. For children ages 5-12 and their families.

Journey to Joy

The focus of this Advent devotional for families is joy, the kind of joy that is soul-deep, rooted in our Lord and Savior, Jesus. True joy can rise up within us even when our Advents—or our lives—aren’t glittery gold and even when we feel more broken than whole. A joyful heart is possible despite what is happening around us because we know God is faithful and more powerful than our circumstances. With Bible-based reflections to ponder, prayers to pray, and simple faith-based actions, author Kate Wicker helps families to seek the joy of Jesus’ birth throughout the Advent season.

The Light of Grace

The light of grace is coming to greet us in this Advent season as we ponder the free gift of God’s Son, Jesus, born on Christmas. In honor of the 250th anniversary of the hymn “Amazing Grace,” these devotions enlighten the heart, mind and soul with the Good News that the Light of the World graces us with his presence every day of our lives.
