For many years, there has been a hope and dream to upgrade the Mission campus fellowship hall. In the 2016/2017 fiscal year budget, we committed to a ceiling and lighting upgrade. As we worked toward developing the upgrade project, several members came together to ask, “How could we expand the project to a complete remodel of the fellowship hall?”

Upon further review, we recognized that the fellowship hall is the second largest meeting space on the Mission campus. This is a space that should evoke a warm and comforting environment to engage in spiritual discussion and fellowship. We know that to many in the community, this space is also a first impression of Trinity.

With the help of Buffy and Phil Rishel a design concept was drawn up. We asked for bids for all phases of the project, and settled on a budget of $94,500. Demolition began on July 15, 2017, with a construction completion date of September 30, 2017.

We are pleased to announce that the remodel is 99% complete, and under budget. We began using the renovated space on October 4. There are several punch-list items left to complete that will be addressed in the next few weeks: adjusting the height of ceiling lighting, securing strip lighting behind a glass panel, and some paint touchup.

We gratefully thank the Trinity Lutheran Foundation for their financial support for the project. The Parks Fund, dedicated to church facility improvements, helped with about two-thirds of the project cost. The Foundation exists because former members had the foresight to include the Foundation and the church in their estate planning. This project is the beneficiary of those members who included the Foundation/Church in their estate planning. Please consider including the Foundation in your estate planning.

A big thank you to Buffy and Phil on the interior design, architectural drawings, materials selection, and contractor contacts; Rex Garrelts who acted as project lead; the Property Committee that served as project development support; and  over fifteen volunteer members that helped during demolition and final clean-up.

To God be the glory that this space will touch our community as we continue our journey of following Jesus.
