Parents,

Thanksgiving is around the corner! What better way to give thanks than to share our gratitude for the many blessings we have and then find ways to bless others.

My college roommates and I are doing a similar activity and wanted to share the idea with all of you. This calendar comes from dellaskitchenshop.com but you could make your own. Here is the ADDITION – assign a small monetary value to each day/activity – could be a penny, dime, quarter, 50 cents, $1 – it’s your choice. Each time your family completes the activity listed for the day you place money in a jar or envelope. If you don’t complete an activity, you double the monetary amount placed in your collection. You decide if you give per family member or collectively.

At the end of the month you decide where to donate the money collected – it could be a local food bank or pantry, animal shelter, buy a gift for someone, etc. This provides an opportunity to serve and give to others. Most importantly, it allows us to reflect on the many blessings we have received from God and then joyfully give to others in response to what God has done for us.

Happy Thanksgiving!
