In February, 2024, a group of Trinity members participated in a mission trip to Panajachel, Guatemala to resume Trinity’s commitment to build a home for a family in need, donate shoes, sweaters, and medicines and spread God’s word.
This was the first mission trip since the pandemic but the sixth trip Trinity has made to this region since 2015. Six members joined the trip this year: Kevin K., Dale Larson, Sue Larson, Doug Lewallen, Jane Musgrove, and Pastor Mark Schulz.
When we arrived at the work site, little had been done to the land on which the house was to be built so we spent time cleaning up the area, digging trenches for the foundation which involved removal of buried rocks, and cutting and tying wire for the rebar columns which would support the house.
Trinity is also committed to supporting food programs for several villages in the region and we visited one, Chuchipaca, where we distributed the donated sweaters and shoes and were blessed by a warm welcome and special luncheon.
When we returned to KC we knew there was lots of work left before Isabel and her three children would move in. We have received word this month that her home was completed and the family has now moved in.
This new home is due to the support of the Trinity congregation through the Missions budget which helps fund a home for a family in need.
If you are interested in participating in a future Guatemalan mission trip, please let Pastor Luke know of your interest.
