Trinity was recently blessed with the acceptance of our Call by Elizabeth Stephens as our new Youth Family Minister (YFM).

Beth will serve with her primary responsibility focused on ministry for middle school, high school, and college students and their families at both campuses and in the community.  She will work closely with the Children Family Minister (CFM) to ensure ministry continuity across ages. Together, they will be an integral part of the Growing Core ministry at Trinity. The YFM will be the first chair staff person for youth programs and activities and work as second chair alongside the CFM in Children Family Ministry areas.

Beth was born in Colorado and grew up in Wichita, Kansas, where she attended Holy Cross Lutheran Church and School. She attended Kindergarten through eighth grade at Holy Cross. Beth grew in her faith as a youth with the guidance of her family and her youth leader. Her father, Kent, who served as a DCO, and her DCE, Brian Amey, helped Beth recognize the gifts and abilities God had given her for service through church ministry. She served on her youth leadership team for two years helping to plan events, lead small group Bible studies and mentoring middle school students. She served as the college volunteer coordinator for two Kansas District Youth Gatherings as well as serving in summer internships at Risen Savior in Wichita and Zion Lutheran in Abilene, Texas.

Beth attended Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska, graduating with a B.A. in Christian Educational Leadership and a B.A. in Theology. Following graduation, she entered her internship at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Battle Creek, Michigan. It was to St. Mark’s that Beth accepted her first Call. In her ministry there she served children, youth, and families working to build a youth ministry from the ground up. She also completed KINDLE new graduate training for DCEs which emphasizes servant leadership and lifelong learning as church workers.

Beth’s loving family includes her parents, Kent and Carmen, who live in Denver, Colorado; brother, Ben, and his wife, Alica, who live in Indianapolis, Indiana; and her brother, Dan, and his wife, Helena, who live in Wichita. In her free time, Beth likes to kayak, cook and bake, and spend time at the movies.

Installation for Beth will be Sunday, October 7, at the Shawnee campus at 8:30am worship with a reception following worship, and at the Mission campus at  11am worship with a reception following worship.

Please join us in welcoming Beth into our Trinity family. We ask that you continue to hold her in your prayers as she makes her transition into her new ministry and as she becomes part of our “Community Following Jesus.” We are excited for her ministry among us and to walk alongside her as she lives her life as His disciple guided by the words of Hebrews 12:1-2:

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
