In July the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod met in convention.  This happens every three years and is how our national church body governs.  Tom Perry was elected to be a voting delegate from our circuit.  Many resolutions were debated and voted upon as well as voting for the officers who oversee the different transactions of our Synod.  Topics ranged from recent Supreme Court decisions and how they could affect our church body (especially our colleges and seminaries), women’s role in ministry, the use of lay deacons, ecclesiastical supervision, as well as a host of other issues. It was eye opening to see how our national body makes decisions and the process was fascinating.  Tom Perry will be preparing a report of what he experienced and the decisions that were made, and will offer that in some form to Trinity and the circuit. If you have questions on anything about the convention don’t hesitate to ask Tom.
