The 67th convention of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) will take place July 20-25 in Tampa, Florida. This year’s convention theme is “Joy:Fully Lutheran” based on 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18: “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

The synod meeting in convention is the official decision-making body of the LCMS. A pastoral and lay delegate from each circuit in the synod represent their circuit at the convention. The delegates from our circuit are Pastor Perry Sukstorf from Redeemer Lutheran Church in Olathe, and Tim Reaman from Trinity. The congregations in our circuit represented by these delegates are Christ, Overland Park; Trinity, Mission and Shawnee; Beautiful Savior, Olathe; Redeemer, Olathe; Augsburg, Shawnee; and Hope, Shawnee.

Each day of the convention, delegates will join in worship and prayer, hear reports, and consider and vote on resolutions.  In addition, numerous elections will be held to fill various boards and commissions. Resolutions will be considered dealing with national and international ministries, theology and church relations, pastoral ministry and seminaries, and structure and administration.

Please pray for our church body and for the delegates.
