The observance of the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation in 2017 will get underway at Hope with a presentation on “Luther and the Reformation” on Sunday, February 12, at 4:00 p.m. The guest lecturer will be Dr. Mary Jane Haemig, Professor of Church History at Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota. The topic of her lecture will be “Luther and the Reformation…Why It Still Matters.”  Prof. Haemig is a specialist in the study of the Lutheran Reformation, serving as the Director of Reformation Research Program at Luther Seminary. She appeared in the Lutheran Hour Ministries video, “A Man Named Martin.” This past fall Dr. Haemig was a guest presenter at the Theological Symposium of Concordia Seminary, St. Louis.

Dr. Haemig’s presentation will be followed by a fellowship meal in Concord Hall.  The day will conclude with an evening setting of worship featuring hymns of Dr. Martin Luther. Plan to attend what promises to be an informative and inspiring evening. Spread the word to others who might be interested and invite them to join us for this Reformation 500 event.
