The LCMS Kansas District invites applications for the position of Communications Specialist (up to 28 hours per week). The Communications Specialist oversees the communications efforts of the District, including the website (, Workers Together newsletter, The Lutheran Witness supplement, social media, special projects, and other duties as assigned. He or she must be a member in good standing of an LCMS congregation and should have a bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field and at least three years of experience (paid or volunteer).

The ideal candidate will be a resourceful content creator and strong editor; proficient with (or able to learn quickly) Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, and social media platforms; comfortable with graphic design; able to juggle multiple projects; and knowledgeable about LCMS doctrine, practice, and structure. A combination of onsite and remote work is possible.
