You might have heard about the passing of Isabelle Ford last week. She was a student of St. James Academy, but had close ties to Shawnee Mission and Mill Valley. A few of our students knew her and her passenger who is still in the hospital.

Death and dying is an important but difficult topic to talk about. As Christians, we can hold onto the hope of our eternal life with Christ that not even death can take away from us. As you talk to your teens about this topic, here are some helpful resources to guide you. The first two come from secular sources, and the third includes a faith perspective.

If your student is struggling to process death or dying, Trinity is always here for you. Whether that means having a conversation with your family, and/or connecting you with the right professional resource, we want to walk alongside your family through whatever is going on. Your whole family is constantly in our prayers as a community following Jesus.

Lord God,
you are attentive to the voice of our pleading.
Let us find in your Son
comfort in our sadness,
certainty in our doubt,
and courage to live through every hour.
Make our faith strong
through Christ our Lord. Amen.
