Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

We praise God for your support, prayers, donations and helping hands that allow us to do His will for those who need Him, especially in these times. The LUMA staff will continue to be on the front lines, providing God’s provision of mind, body and soul, especially through the work of our Community Outreach Coordinator, Kelsha James.

We will continue to:

  • Assist the Immanuel food pantry, Bessie’s House and Our Redeemer to make sure food is getting to those who need it.
  • Assist refugees.
  • Hand out diapers through the HappyBottoms program.
  • Offer the Word and love of Jesus for those hurting of mind and soul.
  • Collect/purchase items for our Community Closet that individuals are not able to buy with food stamps.
  • We are now providing virus kits for the homeless, which include a mask, hand sanitizer, packaged food, water, and hygiene goods.

Here at LUMA, we are doing what it takes to keep our Lord’s mission alive and going. We trust in God to provide, but He provides for us through you. During this pandemic, we understand times are hard, and as a result, financial support is down.

We are asking you for:

  • Prayers for our workers and volunteers as we continue to serve the community.
  • Prayers for our women’s auxiliary who are still providing goods and services through this time.
  • Your financial support so we can continue to purchase and distribute bars of soap, hand sanitizer, toilet paper, disinfecting wipes, baby wipes, diapers, food, and many other needs.

I end with selected verses from Psalm 80, a cry out to God to restore Israel after it was ravaged by the pestilence of the Assyrian Army.

Hear us, Shepherd of Israel, you who sit enthroned between the cherubim. Restore us, O God; make your face shine on us, that we may be saved. Let your hand rest on the man at your right hand, the son of man you have raised up for yourself. Then we will not turn away from you; revive us, and we will call on your name. Restore us, Lord God Almighty; make your face shine on us, that we may be saved.

May our Lord be with you all,

Rev. Brad Zerkel
