Can you host choir members?

The 45-member Gospel Choir from the Castle Church in Wittenberg, Germany, will be doing a Midwest concert tour in May of this year. Trinity will be hosting the choir from Friday, May 29, to Sunday, May 31 (Pentecost). We are making plans for the choir to sing during the 5:30 Saturday worship service and perform a 7pm concert at the Mission campus on May 30. They will also sing in the 11am worship service on Sunday, May 31, at the Shawnee campus. A major commitment to make this happen is providing lodging for 45 choir members. We are looking for Trinity members willing to host choir members in their homes for two nights. The choir members are willing to share a bed if necessary. Subject to possible modifications (primarily Saturday), the host family commitment would involve:

Friday, May 29

  • Meet and pick up assigned choir members at the Mission campus about 9pm.

Saturday, May 30

  • Provide breakfast.
  • Transport choir members to the Mission campus to meet a bus about 9am for choir sightseeing trip in Kansas City. The choir will return by bus to the Mission campus about 3:30pm for a choir-only dinner, Saturday worship service, concert, and light reception.
  • Pickup choir members at the Mission campus about 8:30pm and return to the host home.

Sunday, May 31

  • Provide breakfast
  • Transport choir members to the Shawnee campus about 10:00am. The choir sings in the 11am worship service.

While this involves a significant commitment and some inconvenience, it is also an opportunity for some cross-cultural experience on a personal level in your own home. We would like to know how much participation we can count on from Trinity members, so please sign up by March 1. A sign-up sheet will be available at both campuses in the foyer areas. You can also sign up on TrinityCloud. Please contact Tim Reaman for any questions or further details, 913-609-0984, 1951tlr @gmail.com.
