Dear Parents,

This week we remember and celebrate the Ascension of our Lord. We also remember His promise that He would one day return and we will live with Him in heaven.

I can only imagine what it felt like to be one of the disciples and to see Jesus ascend and leave them. The Bible tells us they “worshipped Him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy and were continually in the temple blessing God” (Luke 24:52-53).

Great joy? It would seem they would have been afraid, sad, confused, or feeling any number of emotions, but Jesus had opened their minds to understand the Scriptures. They knew and understood Jesus was their Savior and all these things were happening to fulfill scripture.

What about us? Are we worshipping with great joy through all our current trials? Are we looking for where God is at work around us and through us? Do we give thanks and praise daily to our Savior for all that He has done for us?

We have the assurance of life everlasting. No matter what trials happen in our lives there is a peace that comes only through our faith and trust in the One who loves us so much he was willing to give his life for us.
