With the church’s fiscal year beginning July 1, 2025, your newly constituted Executive Committee (EC) met for the first time on July 28, 2025. Being the first meeting with the new members, we took some time for brief personal introductions, although we know that getting to know each other and meshing as a team will take time as it does for any group. But the meeting went very well.
Besides the introductions, we also discussed the biggest challenges facing the EC and the church. There is agreement that those include:
-
Finding a third pastor
-
Refinancing church debt
-
Congregational giving
-
Connecting the two campuses so that we are united in mission
During such an organizational meeting, we didn’t discuss actions we might take regarding these issues. Those will come later.
In other business, the financial report for our fiscal year end, June 30, 2025, was positive from the standpoint that we finished slightly in the black, with about $6,000 more in revenue than our expenses. However, that was achieved due to the aforementioned pastor vacancy and a pre-school teacher vacancy, saving us those related personnel expenses last year.
Whether we fill the pre-school teacher vacancy remains to be seen, depending on final enrollment for this coming year. However, the pastor vacancy looms regardless. With the level of current giving, we are not in a sustainable scenario once we do fill either or both vacancies.
In the meantime, we encourage everyone to review their finances to see how we might increase our giving, keeping in mind that no amount of increase is ever too small.
As for connecting the two campuses, Pastor Luke is mapping out congregation-wide events in the next year designed to bring us together physically so that we have faces to go with names from the campus we may not attend regularly. You, however, can facilitate this connection by seeking out and knowing the EC members that attend your services.
