February 5, 2026
During the January 25, 2026, Congregational Assembly we said we would summarize in the eNews the Executive Committee’s part of the presentation. Topics covered at the Assembly included the overall state of the church, church finances, staffing, and service/volunteerism. This week, we begin with the state of the church, finances, and staffing.
The state of the church is sound. We are operating on a balanced budget, membership is up slightly, and we have robust services at both campuses.
While we are operating on a balanced budget financially, we have challenges coming up. These include increased interest expense associated with the refinancing of our current debt, repairs to the Shawnee parking lot, significant expenses for necessary upgrades or maintenance on the aging Mission site, e.g., an upgrade/maintenance of the HVAC system, replacing the automated front door system, upgrading the restrooms, just to name a few.
We also need to add to our ministry staff. The Trinity staff is now working at capacity and does not have the bandwidth to expand into further ministries. We currently operate at a ministry maintenance level rather than one of vision and outreach.
To accomplish all of that in 2026 would require a double digit increase in giving of around 14%. Being aware of the economic climate, we know asking for that would be a hard pill to swallow. So, we are targeting a 6% increase to cover the most critical items.
Accordingly, we prayerfully ask you to consider your personal finances and determine how you might contribute to the necessary increase in overall giving. We know everyone’s situation is different, but any increase you can afford is welcome. No increase is too small. Some might be able to give more, some less, but overall we hope to reach that 6% level for this year.
Next week, we’ll discuss service/volunteerism in our church. As always, please seek out and get to know your EC members worshiping alongside you. Those members, by the way, are:
