Display in the Mission Campus Lounge during Lent
During the Church season of Lent, we are focused on remembering Christ’s fulfillment of the Scriptures. The Passion Story brings with it the highs and triumphs, the lows and death, and the certain hope of our salvation. We read in John 19:28 that Jesus declared that the scriptures had been fulfilled.
Three months earlier we celebrated the season of of Advent. We looked with eager anticipation to the celebration of Jesus coming to us. We experienced the deep emotions of hope, peace, love, and joy:
The hope for a world where people live together caring for each other.
The peace which comes from being still and know He is God.
The love through Jesus’ sacrifice and torture. “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for his friends.”
The joy in seeing that “He is Alive.” Easter brings with it the fulfillment of our hope of salvation.
Seen here are paintings from the Trinity art collection paired with paintings depicting the emotions elicited during Advent. The Advent paintings were created for a Trinity Advent devotional written years ago.
