Trinity’s Music Minister and Organist, Dr. Lara West, will be the featured performer in the Third Sunday at Three Organ Recital Series at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 15438 Leavenworth Road, Basehor, Kansas, on Sunday, September 17, at 3:00 p.m. The recital series features a renowned “tracker” organ built in 1997 by Halbert Gober for a church in Cleveland, Ohio, recently relocated to Basehor after a dramatic rescue by the Holy Angels parishioners.
In the Roman Catholic Church, September 17 is the Feast of St. Hildegard of Bingen. In keeping with that feast day, the recital program is titled “Hildegard of Bingen and the Living Light.” Readings from St. Hildegard will create a contemplative context for organ works by Sweelinck, Buxtehude, Couperin, Brahms, Distler, Joel Martinson, Libby Larsen, James Woodman, James Biery, and Gwyneth Walker, in addition to excerpts from “The Hildegard Organ Cycle” by Frank Ferko.
