Phil Cook
To the people of God at Trinity,

As you know, on July 30th, I received two different divine calls to serve as the pastor of two different churches in Texas. Over the past several weeks, I have visited both congregations to learn about them and their ministries and spent much time in prayer seeking God’s will. I appreciate your prayers and the many kind words and insights you have shared during this time as well.

As I contemplated these two new calls, I kept coming back to one question in the back of the call documents, “Are there ministry opportunities you and your present congregation have not met? Is the Lord by this call leading you and your present congregation to be recommitted to each other and to meeting these opportunities together?” Again and again, as I contemplated the many good things and opportunities and challenges at the other congregations, I was drawn back to this question. There are many good things and still many opportunities and challenges here as yet unmet. I believe the Lord has been saying to me that my time here is not yet done. For this reason, I am declining the two new calls to Texas and will remain here as your pastor.

I thank you for your partnership in the gospel. There is still much for us to do as we seek to make the love of Jesus known in the places we live, work and play. May God lead and guide us as we go, and to God be the glory!

Your servant in Christ,
Pastor Phil Cook
