Wear Red for Pentecost

May 27-28
All Services

On the weekend of May 27-28, the Day of Pentecost (fifty days of Easter and ten days after the Ascension), the clergy wear red vestments to signify the work of the Spirit. It is also a custom in many churches for the people in the congregation to wear red on the Day of Pentecost as well. We invite you to wear red on Pentecost Sunday to remind us of the fire of the Spirit. Additionally, the sanctuary will be decorated in red symbolizing the tongues of flame (and by extension, the Holy Spirit) that appeared above those who were assembled on the original Pentecost (Acts 2:3).
